Frequently asked questions
I did not receive the registration confirmation email. What should I do?
Check if it did not arrive by mistake in the 'Unwanted' or 'Spam' of your mailbox because unfortunately
some email software does not make a good distinction between legitimate email and spam.
- The validated e-mail address is the first level of the trust index of your profile.

See all the details on this page.
Right of withdrawal:
You have a period of 14 calendar days from the payment of your subscription to exercise your right of withdrawal.
To exercise this right, you must make a request to the M'sitting Service using the site's internal messaging system.
See all the details on this page.
- The subscription subscribed is not automatically renewable on its expiry date.
Why is the subscription so cheap?
M'sitting was set up by a young retiree who runs it as a micro-contractor with no employees, and therefore low charges.
I forgot my username and/or password, what should I do?
On the 'home' page of the site, click on 'Forgotten username or password', then enter your email address
(the one you filled in when you registered).
An email will be sent to this address with a link that you will have to click on
to go to the 'Settings' page and create a new password.
If you have forgotten the email address you used to create your account on M'sitting, you can search for the term M'sitting in your various
mailboxes (if you have several).
If you have not yet confirmed your account email address, contact the administrator at: webmaster@msitting.com to access your account again.
Why don't some members reply to my messages?
This may be due to different reasons:
- This member has not yet checked his mailbox
- You do not match the search criteria of this member
- Your Profile may not be well highlighted or reassuring enough to make you want to
to initiate the discussion (especially if this member has received several proposals).
- This member has received many messages and has not bothered to answer all
- He didn't have time to answer
Are my email address and phone number visible in my profile?

Welcoming house sitters
House sitters usually arrive on site the day before the owners leave.
A few hours are necessary to get to know each other well and give all the instructions when visiting the property.
Plan a welcome meal to take the time to get to know each other and have a good time.
Is there a need to sign a contract?
YES, regardless of its legal value, it is advisable to sign a contract
to avoid any misunderstanding between owners and house sitters.
This is a 'Use Loan Agreement',
a model of which is proposed here
Who pays for what?
As if they were rented, house sitters will do their food shopping and cleaning products.
Owners should provide everything that is essential for their animals (croquettes, litter, care products, etc...)
Who has to pay for common expenses such as electricity, heating, etc...?
Usually it is the owner.
But depending on the length of occupancy, the season, or special needs, current expenses can be covered
in part or in whole by house sitters.
Can we use the Internet and/or telephone?
It depends on the package available to the owner, so it has to do with him.
In some European countries, telephone and Internet packages are quite interesting and even make it possible
often unlimited use without any additional cost, but this is not the case in other countries where
unintentional misuse could result in unexpected additional costs.
Do I have to pay the house sitters?
NO, house sitting is an exchange of services between owners and house sitters who do each other a service without any exchange of money.
Do I have to make a declaration to my insurer?
If it is international house sitting, it is better to check with your insurer.
Only he will be able to give you precise answers.
- If you have house sitters:
We advise you to inform your insurer that your accommodation will be occupied by guests in order to secure it during your absence.
Your home insurance generally continues to cover your home in the event of a loss caused by
external to the actions of your guests (except for exchanges with certain countries: check with your insurer).
House sitters must provide you with a copy of the 'Resort Civil Liability Coverage',
which is included in their own home insurance policy.
If you have foreign house sitters, ask them what coverage they have, and talk to your insurer.
If their coverage is insufficient, you can ask your insurer to provide you with specific coverage for the period in question.
By having your house guarded while you are away, you limit the risk of burglary and damage.
(fire, water damage, etc...) which is not to displease your insurer.
- If you are a house sitter:
In the event that you are responsible for a claim during your stay, the 'Resort Civil Liability' of your policy
home insurance will work (provided there is no territorial limit in case you go abroad).
We advise you to check in with the owner who is hosting you,
so that he can have a clause added to his insurance contract if necessary.
What happens if a stay is cancelled?
Fortunately, it is very rare that a stay is cancelled, as each party is aware of the importance of their commitment.
This not only leads to great disappointment, but can also lead to difficulties in reimbursing airline or train tickets.
Cancellation without serious reasons may result in the removal of a member from M'sitting.
In such a case, the latter will not be able to claim any current subscription refund.
In order to limit the risks, we advise you to buy your tickets only when both parties
have completed and signed the House sitting contract with the agreed dates.
However, we recommend that you take out insurance to cover cancellations due to unforeseen events.
Is it possible to invite friends or family during a stay?
NO!
It is important to understand that a landlord who entrusts you with his house does not accept that strangers are invited to it during his absence.
You can of course ask the owner the question, but you should know that it is unlikely that he will accept.
Do owners always have animals to keep?
There are of course owners who do not have pets and whose need is only to secure their home during their absence
but very often the owners have animals to keep (at least one cat or dog) and it is mainly
to ensure the well-being of their animals that they choose to use house sitters.
